Since I just had a manly post about camping in the wild and fishing, I decided it would be a great time to destroy all of my manly credibility by writing about how much I love flower photography.
But seriously, among all my other hobbies (such as blacksmithing, logging, body building, and pyrotechnics) I actually do enjoy taking photos of flowers. I’m not necessarily proud of it, but it soothes the soul. Also, flowers make fantastic photographic material, especially when they’re covered in dew or light rain.
A couple of the below photos are from previous photographic adventures, but many are from our most recent trip to Oregon. It was raining lightly one morning, so I went out to the garden and got some shots with my Nikkor 50mm lens. It’s not necessarily a macro lens, but it works great for flower photography because of the extreme shallow depth of field and the focal length. I would love to get a good macro lens, but that one will work for now.
Anyway, here are a bunch of flower photos.
